Missonary Work is for Everyone

Hoi iedereen!!

this week has had many ups and some downs. but either way I still love doing what I am doing and I am learning a ton everyday.

I want to challenge you if you haven't already seen this video, watch the "because of him" video on the LDS website. it literally changed my life and my thought process as being a missionary. do yourself a favor and watch it again if you have already seen it.  Because of Him

guys, we are the ones on the earth right now and we are the people building the kingdom of god. it is a never ending cycle and we are so incredibly blessed to be a part of it. never let any chances go without sharing this wonderful message with someone or bearing even a small testimony. that is my challenge for you. as it is going to be a new year and new year resolutions will be made, try to focus on how you can help build the kingdom. you reap what you sew. I will be doing the same. I am working on loving everyone as christ does. charity never faileth and it's something i must improve on and I think everyone can always improve. the gospel is about improving. it's so great. I love you all. christmas was wonderful, elder Russel M. Nelson spoke to us and we had other devotionals throughout the day.

missionary work is really for everyone. we were saved for this day. so go get em! :)

love you all. my time is up.

VROLIJK KERSTFEEST (MERRY CHRISTMASSSSSS)

Hoi mijn familie!!!!!!

WOW I cannot believe I  have been here for 2 weeks already. Honestly the days go by so fast and the weeks do too...crazy

so we got 2 new investigators on monday...we are done with beja because SHE IS NOW OUR TEACHER HAHAHAHAHAH quite a humbling experience i might say lol. but oh my goodness. her name is sister juchau (jewshaw) and I love her to pieces. it's weird, I loved her as our onderzoeker and I would have jumped off a cliff for her but now having her as our teacher makes me more willing to do that X10 haha she is just the most christlike, funny, open hearted person. our district loves her and we can't get over how cute she is. she is 23, and she just got back from our mission 8 months ago. she is so enthusiastic all the time. and she actually said to us....well first she said she didn't want to already have a biased opinion about our district, but she said the first night we taught her she called her mom right after and told her she had never met another district like ours who spoke the language so well and taught so well on our first time (maybe that's because she has only been working here for a few months, haha) but that was pretty humbling too. no doubt i wouldn't be able to teach without the holy ghost as our 3rd companion. she said yesterday that the netherlands is like the most evil place in the world as far as trend setting goes. they are the trend setters for all the styles, drugs, prostitution, all that lovely wicked stuff. AND WE ARE GOING TO THE FRONT LINES OF IT AS MISSIONARIES so that made me super pumped. her favorite part about her mission was seeing those people have a change of heart. wow. so thrilled to go!!!! I love my companion!!!

Our new investigators are roos (rose) and judith. we asked them both if they would be baptized. roos said no because she is athiest, and judith said she would if she found out it's right (she has a christian background)

anyways, tonight I am singing in a trio for this nativity scene in front of ALL THE MISSIONARIES AT THE MTC ahhhhhhh the song is 'Pie Jesu'....please pray for me.

love you all! gotta go.

Teaching Beja

Today we taught Beja again. It was our fifth lesson already! Beja actually said the opening prayer which made us feel super happy :) Usually she says no because it's too personal bT SHE DID IT THIS TIME!!! Also we asked her if she would pray about being baptized and she said she would. So far we have taught her the first three lessons (The Restoration, The Plan of Salvaion, and The Gospel of Jesus Christ, which includes Faith in Jesus Christ (Geloof in Jezus Christus), Repentence (Bekering), Baptism (De doop), and The Gift of the Holy Ghost (de Heilige Geest)). Anyway, I love it. I seriously have grown a love for Beja even though she is just an actor. haha. Anyway...

Hoe is het met u? (How is it with you?) I miss you all!!! The days go by really slow and also really fast. I absolutely love our district. The elders are so strong in their faith, and also so funny.

I hope all is well! Alles goed met me! ;) Love you all!

FIRST WEEEEEEEEEK

Hallo mijn familie!!!!! I love and miss you all!

oh my goodness, so much to type, so little time. so.

first day: the first thing we did was go to our class and have our Nederlands (dutch) teacher spit all these words at us that we had no idea what she was saying hahahaha it was terrifying and awesome at the same time (there should be a word for terrifying & awesome???) anyways, yada yada yada, did all the first day missionary stuff, tours, rules, blah blah blah.

second day: more language class and getting adjusted, and planned for our FIRST ONDERSOEKER (investigator) appointment for the next day!!! also quite terrifying and awesome. I love being a missionary.

umm also there are these sisters in our zone who are going to sweden who are like SO FREAKING ENTHUSIASTIC ALL THE TIME so hahaha every time we see them they are all like "DUTCHIES!!!!!!! OH my gosh. how are you doing?? how is the language??? oh my gosh. you sisters are so awesome. i love you!!! you girls are my favorite. who are my favorite girls???? YOU GUYS ARE!!!!!!" so yeah it is rather draining hahahaha me and sis romney seriously don't know how they are always like that. like no joke, every time we see them they act like they havent seen us in YEARS!!!!! hahahah it's so great. we laugh our heads off every time

speaking of laughing, yesterday we got to experience "magic tuesday" heheh....so bear with me while i tell you this short lil story. well since we are going to Belgium, we had to do some fun things for our visas. basically belgium doesn't want parasites into the country so....they have to check everyone who is coming into the country. so our whole district got to have the lovely experience of...pooping in a cup. lol. awkward talk for missionaries for some reason...hahah

anyways.....our district is so great. it's me and Sis Romney, and two other companionships of elders. they're all super cool and psyched about being on a mission.

but anyways. being at the mtc is great because you seriously feel the spirit 24/7. I have never had that before. sure girls camp and youth conference were kinda like that, but being in a place full of MISSIONARIES OF THE LORD is pretty dang awesome. No experience will ever be like this except like the celestial kingdom. haha.

umm today we are teaching Beja for the 4th time. Beja is from the Netherlands and has an idea of God, but wants to know if he is really there and what His plan is for her. Oh my goodness she has so many questions all the time hahaha it's so great because it challenges us. oh by the way our whole lesson has to be in dutch. beja no sprekken de english. so. what we do it prepare the entire lesson first in english then we translate it over to dutch using our super smart minds. Jk. the mtc provides its resources. it's great. so today we are going to try to commit her to baptism. we taught the first and second lesson (restoration and plan of salvation) but she still has questions she needs answered so today our lesson is on all her questions which conveniently all tie together.

We know how to pray and bear our testimonies in dutch! we got those down on like...friday or saturday. GUYS: THE GIFT OF TONGUES IS A REAL THING

anyways. today we get to go to the temple with our zone. super stoked about that. On sunday we walked up and around the temple and took pics.

guys, I really am doing great here at the empty sea (mtc). I haven't actually felt an ounce of homesickness. I'm too busy!!!!!!!! sorry not sorry heheh. no but I do mis syou guys but I wouldn't trade this experience for the world. I love my companion (sis Romney, we actually knew eachother before the mission) I love my district, our zone is ALWAYS FREAKING HAPPY, and being a misisonary is thee best.

love you all.

tot ziens, zuster harris
